Hi! I am a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, barre instructor, freelance aerialist, and mama of two little girls.
I have spent my entire life in health and fitness with a lot of highs and lows, formal education and personal experience along the way. It can be extremely difficult to find your path in this lifestyle alone, as the internet is wrought with misinformation and differing opinions and voices.
I want to empower and EDUCATE you to build a winning mindset about exercise, nutrition, and taking care of yourself, so that you can be your own well-informed, science-based, trainer. Knowledge is key. I provide resources that teach you how to shape and strengthen your body, INSIDE and OUT.
More about Joanna:
- I have a group fitness certification as well as a pre and post-natal certification through American Council of Exercise.
- I am certified personal trainer and nutrition coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
- I have a small personal training business that I run out of our built-out garage gym.
- I was a professional dancer in three different ballet companies, traveled all around Europe and the Caribbean as a dancer and aerialist on cruise ships, and was FULLY TERRIFIED of getting married and having babies. I thought I would surely die from duty and monotony. (Update: it’s going pretty well, but I have occasional identity freak outs.)
- I have taught barre for 9 years at The Ballet Physique in Littleton, CO. While I love lifting and other fitness modalities, barre is hands down the most fun and transformative way to work the body.
- Growing up deep in the ballet world led me to dabble in almost any and every disordered eating pattern, and I am very conscious of how important it is to build a healthy relationship with food. Any nutrition advice I offer here takes those things into important consideration, and if you have a past or any triggers with those things, please let me know.
- I miscarried at 13 weeks in our first pregnancy (stopped growing at 8) and just think we should talk about those things.
- Stepping into the role of a mother was hard for me. I am loving it more and more as I grow into this new title, but I am still a huge fan of spending time on the things that bring you joy and fulfillment as an individual.
